Welcome to the Marquis of Normanby Hotel

Located in Carterton, in the heart of the sunny Wairarapa, the historic Marquis of Normanby Hotel is within easy striking distance of Masterton, Greytown, Featherston, Martinborough and unique attractions like Stonehenge Aotearoa. It's an ideal place to stay for the wine festivals, the balloon festivals, or the Golden Shears (you need to book ahead for those). It's equally welcoming before and after you head into the Tararuas for the marvellous tramping through glorious scenery, and of course, you're especially welcome during the off-season (May-August) when we can give you the extra attention you deserve.

The Marquis is just 500 m (550 yards) from the Carterton railway station - a six minute walk, or ring ahead and our courtesy van will meet your train. (There are five trains to and from Wellington Monday to Thursday, six on Friday and two on Saturday and Sunday.)

Or if you're passing through, call in for a meal, a drink, or a game, from 10am till late, every day. There's a special event most evenings. We're right on the High Street at the corner of Broadway - opposite a cafe with a Fiat Bambina on its verandah!
